Internships – 2 open positions

VVRI is a small start-up, specialising in research analytics related to climate change activity in the UK. We provide investors and businesses with analytical data, predictions and estimations in an effort to demonstrate just how their return on investments and profits could be impacted by climate change events.

The role:

We are looking for two resourceful individuals to undertake an internship with VVRI. We require one MSc Graduate student and one undergraduate, who ideally will have recently completed study at the London School of Economics.

Tasks will be split according to candidates’ research interests and academic strengths.
We particularly encourage applications from students with a research interest in any of the following areas; statistics, predictive analytics, big data, machine learning, climate change, actuarial risk, finance and insurance risk, and environmental studies.

The requirement will be:

• To research and gather statistical data related to sources of climate change in the UK.
• Use data obtained from a variety of sources to produce segmented analysis, related to region and industry.
• Gather data on prevalence of specified climate change events, and produce case study to demonstrate the results.
• With the guidance of our Data Analyst use techniques in predictive analytics to predict future outcomes, and probability of risk.
• Undertake reading to gain grounding in financial valuation methods used in investment analysis.

Skills:

• The role will require individuals who are resourceful in their ability to seek out data, and analyse trends.
• It is crucial that you have the ability to analyse data in MS Excel or other statistical packages.
• You should be able to work independently, though clear guidance will be given on the deliverable related to each task.
• An interest in climate change would be advantageous, but not essential.
• You should have a laptop as you will work remotely for most of the projects term.

A small stipend will be paid weekly to interns. Applications will close 6th July 2019, with candidates expected to start work on 15th July 2019.
